The Recognition
The San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) Facilities Department received a Capella Award for Innovative Communication from the Public Relations Society of America’s Inland Empire Chapter in 2021. The recognition honored the department’s “Better Together, Welcome Home” back-to-school campaign, which provided students, staff and families with clear, accessible information on returning to school safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This campaign introduced communication strategies designed to foster trust, promote safety in a time of unease and support the community as schools reopened for in-person learning. Public Relations Society of America Inland Empire celebrates the Polaris Awards each year, recognizing only the best in public relations and communications in the Inland Empire through their Polaris and Capella Awards.
Better Together, Welcome Home was more than a campaign; it was a promise of safety, unity and a healthy future for our students and families.
